Invantive Business for Windows is ready for use in three steps: install the product, register a licence and connect to a database. Only the first two are once-only. ## Installation The product is downloaded from [Invantive Business for Windows](https://go.invantive.com/download/invantive-business-for-windows) and installed like any Microsoft Windows application. The installer places the application, the [[Business Drivers|Business drivers]] and Invantive UniversalSQL together; nothing else has to be installed for a platform to become reachable. The configuration folder is shared with the other Invantive products on the device. A database defined for Invantive Query Tool is therefore visible in Invantive Business as well, and the other way round. ## Registering a Licence At the first start the licence agreement appears. A licence key is registered as described in [[Invantive UniversalSQL/General/License Registration|License Registration]]; a free licence and a trial licence are offered in the same window. ## Connecting The log-on window opens after the licence has been accepted. Choose a database of the group "Invantive Business", fill out the properties the platform asks for and choose "Connect". The window is described in [[Invantive Business/Log on|Log on]]. A device on which no database has been defined yet searches for the platforms it can reach at the first start. That search is what creates the group "Invantive Business", with one database per driver. ## The First List After connecting, the [[Explorer]] opens. Choosing a subject in the tree fetches its rows for the company selected and shows them: ![[20260903-business-general-ledger-accounts.png]] From here on, every subject works the same way; see [[Invantive Business/Lists|Lists]]. ## Where to Go Next The order below is the shortest route to knowing the product: - [[Explorer]]: what the window is made of; - [[Invantive Business/Lists|Lists]]: sorting, grouping, filtering and exporting; - [[Subjects]]: what is available per module; - [[Invantive Business/Concepts/Companies|Companies]]: why the choice of company decides what is on screen.
