"Show trace" opens a window in which the product reports what it is doing, including the SQL statements it executes. It is the first thing to reach for when a template produces something other than what was expected: the statement which ran is visible, with the parameter values it ran with. The window collects from the moment it is opened, so it is opened before the template is published rather than afterwards. Closing the window stops the collecting. Invantive Support may ask for the trace to be switched on and for the text to be sent along with a support case.
