Publishing is the step which turns the template into a document: the queries are run and the instructions are replaced by data. A template without parameters publishes straight away. A template with parameters first asks for them; see [[Parameter values]]. Where a parameter has a default value, that value is filled in already, so a template can often be published by confirming what is proposed. Where the model offers a list of allowed answers, the parameter carries a button which opens that list instead of leaving the value to be typed. The result is an ordinary Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint document without instructions in it. It can be read, corrected and added to like any other, and then kept; see [[Archive Document]].
