# How it works The diagram illustrates the general operation of Invantive Control for Excel. The model developer creates the model in Invantive Control for Excel and saves it to an Excel file. The model user then opens the Excel file and loads the data from the database. The user’s changes are tracked and, upon synchronisation, the modified data is sent back to the database and new data is retrieved.
