The Modeler ribbon (tab "Invantive Modeler") contains the design functions for the modeler. The functions are grouped as follows.
## Design
- **Install Database**: enable the current workbook for Invantive Control by installing the hidden [[Invantive Control for Excel/Repository/Repository|repository]].
- **Design Mode** (toggle): switch between design mode and user mode. Synchronisation requires design mode to be off; a common support question is a "disabled" Synchronize button caused by design mode still being on.
- **Edit Model**: open the [[Invantive Control for Excel/User Interface/Model Editor|Model Editor]].
- **Building Block Menu**: insert predefined building blocks into the model.
- **Validate Model**: check the model for definition errors.
- **Upgrade to Latest Version**: migrate the repository of an older workbook to the current repository version.
- **Remove Database**: strip the repository from the workbook, turning it back into a plain Excel file.
## Tools
Shortcuts to related Invantive products for query development and data management:
- **Query Tool**: develop and test [[Invantive UniversalSQL/Invantive UniversalSQL|Invantive UniversalSQL]] queries in the [[Invantive Query Tool/Invantive Query Tool|Invantive Query Tool]];
- **Data Loader**, **Studio**, **Data Cache**: open the corresponding Invantive products.
## Block and Row Information
Read-only information about the current selection, useful while designing:
- **Block Label**, **Block Code**, **Block Access Control**;
- **Field**, **Field Name**, **Row Unique ID**.
## Debugging and Analysis
- **IP Worksheets** (toggle): show or hide the internal processing worksheets used by Invantive Control.
- **Show Trace**: open the trace window with diagnostic messages.
- **Mark Row as New** / **Mark Row as Updated**: force the pending-change status of a row, for instance after repairing data manually.
