Invantive Data Hub exists in two variants which share the same engine and the same [[Settings]] files: - the **Windows variant**, which runs on the .NET Framework and only on Microsoft Windows; - the **multi-platform variant**, which runs on the current .NET and reports itself as "Invantive Data Hub Multi-Platform". The multi-platform variant is the one to install on a new device. It runs on Microsoft Windows, Linux and MacOS, and the two variants can be told apart from the banner the product prints at start-up, which names the variant and the release. ## Linux and Raspberry Pi The non-Windows products run on Raspberry Pi OS as well, which is derived from Debian, through the ordinary installation procedure of the product. Capacity is the point to weigh there rather than compatibility. Take the 64-bit version and as much memory as the device allows; the memory of such a device is modest and it is memory rather than processor which limits a large retrieval. ## Switching Variant The configuration is not the obstacle: databases, [[Invantive Keychain|keychain]] and settings files are the same for both variants. What differs is the runtime it needs and the way it is installed, and the licence, which counts per product installation and therefore has to be entered once on the new installation; see [[Invantive Data Hub/Configuration|Configuration]].
