The main window of Invantive Estate for Windows carries a navigation tree on its left. Its top level names the subjects of the repository, such as "Projects", "Processes", "Hours" and "Persons". Opening a subject lists its rows as nodes under it and shows the same rows in a [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Lists|list]] on the right; opening a row shows its [[Summaries|summary]]. ## Opening a Subject A subject opens with its first fifty rows as nodes, followed by a node "See more..." which adds the next fifty each time it is clicked. The name of the subject shows how many rows have been read so far, followed by a plus sign while more may follow: "Hours (50+)", then "Hours (100+)". The plus sign disappears once the last row has been read, and the number then is the number of rows. After each page a few hundred rows are read ahead in the background, so "See more..." usually finds its rows already present. The rows are not counted beforehand. Counting a subject of a hundred thousand rows took longer than reading its first fifty, so a subject now opens in the time it takes to read one page, whatever its size. Up to and including release 26.0 the rows were counted first and the count was shown between the parentheses. Available from release 27.0. The list on the right reads its rows the same way: the first hundred when it opens, the next two hundred in the background, and further rows as it is scrolled towards its end. ## The Context Menu Right-clicking a subject offers: - "Add" opens an empty [[Edit Screens|edit screen]] for the subject. The action is offered for projects, processes, process units, hours, organisations, persons, invoices, purchase orders, product groups, warehouses, draft invoice lines, web sites, price lists and sales channels. Documents, role authorizations and user roles have no such action: a document is added to the project, process or person it belongs to, and the two authorization matrices are changed in the matrix itself. - "Refresh" reads the subject again. Showing the menu does not read the subject; that happens when the subject is opened or when an action is chosen. Available from release 27.0. Right-clicking a row offers the actions of that row, in the same way as on a [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Lists|list]]. ## Waiting for a Subject Reading a subject or its list keeps the window busy, so the window does not react while it lasts. When it lasts longer than five seconds, a window titled "Working" appears. It names the operation, such as loading the hours, shows for how many seconds it has been running and, where the operation counts its steps, how far it is, such as "12 of 50 hours". "Cancel" or the Escape key ends the operation; work already carried out by the database is not undone. The window is hidden while an error is shown and returns, with the seconds counted afresh, once the error has been closed. Available from release 27.0. ## Rights A subject appears in the tree only when the roles of the user grant its list, and "Add" only when they grant changing the subject. ## See Also - [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Lists|Lists]] - [[Summaries]] - [[Edit Screens]] - [[Invantive Estate/Screens/Search|Search]]
