Databases already present on the device can be found by the product itself, instead of being defined by hand in the [[Settings]] file. Discovery asks every driver which databases it recognises on the device, such as a locally installed administration or a configured data source. Discovery is reached with "Discover Databases", both on the toolbar of the log on window and in the menu. The search starts as soon as the window opens and can not be interrupted; the window can only be closed when it has finished. While searching, the window reports at how many drivers it is looking and shows every database found as a tile under the group it belongs to, so results appear one by one. Groups and databases are placed in alphabetical order. Every group holding at least one database is written to the discovery settings file in the configuration folder, next to the [[Settings]] file that is maintained by hand; the two are read together. The databases found are therefore usable straight away: the log on window is reloaded when the discovery window closes. Discovery is only available to a user allowed to use it. Discovery replaces the result of an earlier discovery; a database defined by hand is never overwritten by it.
