A database is opened through the log on window, reached with "Log in" on the toolbar. The window shows the databases on the left, the settings of the selected database on the right, and closes as soon as the log on succeeds. ![[20260806-qtm-log-on-favorites.png]] ## Choosing a Database The tree holds the database groups of the [[Settings]] file, each with the databases it contains. Only databases allowed by the licence are shown; groups without such a database are left out. Groups are opened when there are three or fewer of them, and the group holding the preselected database is always opened. Two extra groups precede the real groups when they hold anything: - "Favorites": the databases marked as favourite. - "Recently used": the databases opened most recently. Both are a shortcut; the database keeps its place in its own group as well. The list is the one described in [[Favorite Databases]] and is shared with the other Invantive products on the device, so a database marked here is also a favourite in for instance [[Invantive Query Tool/Invantive Query Tool|Invantive Query Tool]] for Microsoft Windows. The star in front of a database marks it as a favourite; choosing the star again removes the mark. The tree is rebuilt afterwards, since the favourites group gains or loses the database, and returns to the database that was selected. Which database is selected when the window opens is decided in this order: - the database asked for, when the engine opened the window itself; - the database that was selected before, when the tree was rebuilt after marking a favourite; - the database used last, as remembered in the [[Invantive Keychain]]; - the only favourite, when precisely one database is marked as favourite. ## Credentials The right-hand side shows the user name and the password when the platform of the database asks for them; a platform which authenticates in another way, such as through OAuth, leaves them out. Leave both the user name and the password empty to use the credentials stored in the [[Invantive Keychain]] or in the [[Settings]] file. As soon as one of the two is filled, both are taken as provided; a filled user name with an empty password is therefore an empty password and not a stored one. Underneath, the attributes of the data containers of the database are shown, grouped as they are defined by the platform. Attributes under "Advanced" are collapsed. A changed value is used for this log on and stored with the database. ## Buttons - "Discover Databases" searches the device for databases; see [[Discover Databases]]. - "Log in" opens the selected database. Double-clicking a database in the tree does the same. - "Cancel" closes the window without opening a database. After a successful log on the name of the database is shown at the right of the toolbar, the editor becomes writable, "Execute" and "Execute All" become available and the objects of the database are loaded; see [[Available Objects]].
